Cloud Computing
After spotting the term 'cloud computing' thinking how will a computer fit in a cloud? Or who went there up in the sky to put a computer in a cloud??
No, it is not like that. As small molecules mass to make a cloud and have a stable structure, but unstable position likewise this technology has small networks that sum up to make a cloud computing, which has fixed setup and often many users are there or no user is there. Sky cloud is everywhere and similarly, this technology is also available worldwide, it is not limited.
Let us take an example: we want to save a file on our PC, but it is out of storage then we’ll have to take tours to our old files and folders and think what to delete or what not to delete to make some storage space for our new file to save. We have no option rather than deleting previous files. We want to play a high-end game, but the system doesn’t fulfill the requirements or we want to install software, but it is not free and maybe for that software we’ll have to set up a powerful new system. But what if we have an option of borrowing someone’s PC for some time to do our work, save our work, plus packed with strong security and privacy and much more? Just we need a high-speed network connection.
Cloud computing works on this idea. This is the technology that provides the services only, we need to have a very good internet connection. This technology is not only for storage, it is much more than that having many services and applications. In today’s era, many companies are there which are fully dependent on cloud computing.
Let there be a company having one thousand employees and we want to have a database of employee’s data then will have to make a separate system and a new unit to manage this. After a year the number of employees increased to twenty thousand, then we need a more powerful system and have to make changes to set up a database of employees. So, for that approach, we should have a big unit to handle this and a greater amount of expense, or we can take the services provided by cloud computing by just paying monthly.
So, just by paying a small amount of money we can have our work smoothly done with no worries about data loss, high security, and privacy. Not only this, we can get our data, information or we can work anytime, anywhere, on any device whether it is mobile, laptop, tablet, etc.
Let us compare on- premise and cloud computing based on the following factors.
- Scalability: On-premises, we have to pay more and have fewer options. Once we scale up it is difficult to scale down, which often leads to high maintenance costs and losses.Whereas cloud computing allows us to pay only for what we are using and up/down in scaling can be easily done.
- Storage: Systems setup requires a lot of space, high-maintenance, and bills, but in cloud computing, there are service providers who manage all this and also give us solutions to our problems.
- Security and privacy: On–premises there is less data security and a high chance of data loss with a very less chance of recovery of data. Much better security is provided in cloud computing and no worries of data loss as the recovery of data is very easy also there is regular monitoring and managing of security protocols.
In the forthcoming scenario, cloud computing demand will be very high.
